Acne Skin Care, prevention and treatment

August 31, 2009

Acne skin care is important for prevention and treatment of pimples, pustules, whiteheads and blackheads. Though not a serious medical condition, acne causes significant emotional and psychological trauma.

Acne skin care and prevention starts from within. Remember - your skin health depends on what you feed it. Keep your hair clean. Hair oils and dirt can clog tubes leading to oil glands on top of the skin. Hands can also transmit dirt and oils to the skin. Keep your hands off acne! Picking, popping, pushing and rubbing can worsen the condition.

Include a mild cleanser to wash your face at the beginning and at the end of each day. Also use gentle technique as scrubbing may aggravate acne.

With diligent skin care and treatment, most teens and young adults can reduce the amount of acne or prevent it altogether. However, without good skin care and solid nutritional diet, people are likely to suffer from poor skin condition, increased aging process and high chances of acne.

Treatment and Prevention of Body Acne

August 7, 2009

Though one usually associates acne with the face, few know that it can also form on the back, neck, thigh and butt area. People having body acne can purchase them from drug stores, department stores and mail order companies. Most of them are only through dermatologist prescription.

You can use the same medication for body acne that you use for facial acne. However, the intensity of body acne varies from person to person. However, you can do your bit by always keeping your skin clean and dry. Sport light and airy cotton clothing and use good quality soap and a body brush while bathing.

Once you are out of the shower, ensure that you soak all water from your body with a clean towel before putting on your clothing. Wearing clothes while your body is still wet will set your skin up for more acne breakouts. Relieve yourself of body acne now! Find a product that works for you and use preventative skin care to contain the outbreaks.

July 11, 2009

Acne prevention is important for teenagers and adults as they are the ones who have high chance of getting them. To prevent acne, it is important to know its causes which include hormonal changes, stress, allergies, drug use, deficient personal hygiene, poor nutrition and cosmetics. Overzealous scrubbing may cause more acne to form on the skin.

For a start, decrease the intake of unhealthy foods and foods high in oils in your diet. Chocolates, creams, hamburgers, French fries all fall into this category. Start eating green leafy vegetables, fruits and trace minerals. Carrots, broccoli and leafy vegetables are also beneficial for your skin as they contain high proportion of Vitamin A and beta carotene.

Good personal hygiene is important to prevent acne. Maintain oil free face and keep your hands off your acne! Sun is actually good for acne prevention. Getting about 30 minutes of sunshine a day ensures the body manufactures enough vitamin D and improves skin health. Plenty of rest and drinking lots of water is also important for acne prevention.

What Causes Acne?

November 4, 2008

So picture the scene. You’re just about to go to a long anticipated party. All your mates will be there and you’re hoping to see a certain someone who you might just have taken a liking to. Cue outbreak. It’s almost like they know. But why does it happen.

Although more common at the age of adolescence, acne is a problem faced by people of all ages. It’s also just as much a problem for girls as it it for boys - the difference being that girls tend to get them slightly earlier. A big reason for getting spots in your teens is due to the massive increase in hormone production, as well as effects of notoriously poor diets consumed by teenagers.

Acne within adults tends to signify internal toxicity which can be attributable to a number of factors, such as constipation, candida or food intolerances.

Although there are many facial washes and scrubs out there to help you deal with acne, usually the most effective acne remedies treat the problem from within - helping your liver to deal with toxins at source.
